B2B Front

Digitally Remastered

Back to the Beach is probably the best full-length totally NZ surf vid to be released to date (1992).

Based predominantly around contests, some of the footage is a bit dated and shot in less than perfect conditions but on the whole it features plenty of good solid slashing.

Taranaki terrors feature heavily along with Raglan duo GC and hutch. Average to near perfect Manu Bay opens the footage which drags on a bit too much but offers a good account of the `91 and `92 Pro-Ams.

Two Gisborne pro-ams and likewise Taranaki feature as a healthy dose of beachbreak bashing by all of the then top 30, and plenty of others, with a bone crushing segment of barrells and axings at sizey Wainui thrown in for good measure.

Scott Wilson`s epic deep throat barrel is a highlight at this point. Flawless Stent Road closes the footage with a strong cast of North Island surfers in full carving mode.

With more footage and time to shoot better waves the productionist could easily come up with a homegrown classic.

This one is not far off the pace. A good addition to show your kids how you used to rip. "Budge" NZ Surfing Magazine.
