CD2

Coastal Disturbance 2 is the next instalment of the only full-length feature New Zealand surfing video. And the first half is brilliant.

A fair bit of the footage was shot with NZ Surfing mag present, hence the catch-phrase on the cover ?NZ Surfing Magazine On Video.

We?ve seen quite a few overseas stars grace our shores, and they?re all captured here, giving our waves a severe flogging.

The footage of American Matt Archbold is captivating as he rips the bag with his full arsenal of tricks. We even spent time with him in the tattoo studio where Matt added to his collection while in NZ.

Likewise the footage of Martin Potter and crew is awesome, with the lads carving some filthy waves in Piha and Gisborne.

The full range of overseas stars are also covered during NZ?s first ever international contest the Raglan WQS.

Check this out and see what all the hype was about. Naturally, our own hotties feature with the likes of Daniel Kereopa, Jason Matthews, Chris Malone, Chris Millett, Ernest Te Ruki and Co. giving it death wherever they sink their rails.

The Hot Buttered Pro at Piha is a highlight of the video, a contest which unleashed some of the best waves, filthiest women, and hottest surfing on the 1995 contest calendar. Check Troy Hirst?s hell floater which he doesn?t quite make during this bit.

Bound to have you cringing in your seat as the Hamster gets slammed. Aussie Michael Cain?s barrel that won him the Expression Session is also in this segment, and it?s an insane backhand pit by anyone?s standards.

Some decent looking Indicators features, with the local crew along with South African Seth Hulley giving it what for. Luke Millen and Larry Fisher continue their?up North? saga, with footage actually eclipsing their segment in the first edition of Coastal Disturbance.

The end of CD2 is absolutely classic. The big man JM at his humorous best. All in all it?s pretty damn filth...thoroughly deserving pride of place in your video library if you?re at all serious about home-grown surfing.

And like last year, the soundtrack goes off with 100 percent Kiwi music gelling perfectly with the footage. RunningTime 58mins
