SOME of 1995's hottest surfing action is captured in Coastal Disturbance 3.
The third in the Coastal Disturbance series, lt follows the same surf magazine style format of the previous version and draws mostly from New Zealand's major locations, especially Raglan and Taranaki.
The Taranaki segments come from the Maori Nationals and feature many of that region?s top names like Jason Lellman, Motu Mataa, Pipi Ngaia, Mike Pupuke and Seth Matthews.
Viewers are treated to the fierce, attacking style of Jason Matthews, to the sound of the theme from Once Were Warriors. Heading south we see the astonishingly agile Nuku Nash performing last minute lightning moves at what looks like Gore Bay.
CD3 also reveals wild antics in cyclone surf last February at an East Coast location that l'm forbidden to disclose: the piles of driftwood on the beach and rare shot of Edgecumbe?s Tony Ogilvy and son Lucas will give you a hint.
ln this segment Matthew Bennett Greg Scott and Toby Waterhouse also go seriously off. As with most surf media operators, May was a frantic month whizzing back and forth tracking the five or six contests.
The Raglan event followed by two in Gisborne, then over to New Plymouth, and finally Piha.
Comprising totally fresh footage, this video contains quite a lot of water shots which provided one or two close shaves. While filming at Wainui Matt Archbold skate`s over the top of the photographer.
At the WQS Raglan contest, the biggest surf contest ever held in this country, the sequences are probably the best ever taken by a Kiwi photographer and illustrate the talent of surfers like Will Lewis, Tim Curran, Chris Ward, Cory Lopez, Dog Marsh, Maz Quinn and eventual winner Daniel Wills. Check out Occy, Michael Lowe and a host of top internationals free surfing at Indicators in clean overhead conditions after the comp!!
The soundtrack is all New Zealand and features top local band`s Unleaded, Shihad, Head Like a Hole, Future Stupid and more!
